Adidas Samoa Trainers in Tarnish/Cocoon In the beginning, quality shoes were created by the skilled hands of cobblers; tradesmen and women who were dedicated to their craft. Adi Dassler belonged to this tradition of quality artisans. Combine this with a commitment to athletes and sport, and you have the foundations of Adidas. As a way to pay tribute to the spirit of craftsmanship, Adidas introduces the Stitch Down Collection: A melding of classic sport styles with traditional shoemaking techniques.
Stitch down construction has been widely used throughout the shoe trade for many years. This traditional hand crafted method of lasting (the method that the shoe is constructed by) has always meant quality, comfort and flexibility. Founder Adi Dassler carefully built his very first athletic shoes this way. Although modern factories have abandoned some of the techniques, Adidas has not. The Stitch Down Collection brings back traditional shoe making, featuring vintage leathers, flexible stitch down construction, and authentic natural crepe rubber with supreme cushioning. Not all shoes are created equal. Some include a bit more attention. Stitch down
it's about history reinvented.
First introduced in the mid 1970's, the Samoa combined suede leather with colourful stripes and a distinctive trefoil tread. Now updated in corduroy with vintage leather overlays, flexible stitch down construction, Eva midsole and natural crepe rubber outsole.
